The red pill or the blue pill – the choice is yours (Matrix movie)
Movie excerpt: “You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”
The Definition of Hell:
“On your last day on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become.” — Unknown
A live of regrets and denial or health and vitality
Here is my take…
A blue pill refers to a human that is not aware of the true nature of the health and longevity.
I can only show you what and how it is possible; it is up to you to make the right decision.
The leading causes of early death in most industrial countries are linked to poor lifestyle choices.
- No one plans to die early, yet so many aren’t willing to eat healthy, exercise and live a more active lifestyle; the things that are difficult to do in the short-term because most people don’t take the time for.
- No one plans to lead a life of chronic stress, but taking time for play, exercise or renewal can feel like a waste of time.
Discover the Power of Compound Time
I call it compound time because, it is like compound interest; a small investment now yields surprisingly large returns over time. These are all the activities and choices we make that pay off in the long-term, but not always on the spot or day. These choices can cost you many years and make a vast difference in the quality of your life.
In order to reap the benefits of compound time, you need to make it a priority to step away from urgent work, slow down, and invest in activities that boost you energy, sharpen your mind and have other long-term health benefits. These actions may achieve less in a day at first, but once you have established the right habits and a routine, you drastically gain more clarity and increase your energy over the course of your live.
So, how do we change from thinking short-term to thinking long-term and reaping the benefits of the latter as a result?
Examples of the compound time activities and decisions that I want to highlight include: healthy nutrition, better eating behaviour, a more active lifestyle, an empowering morning routine, regular exercises and enough sleep.
The first-order consequences of exercise (pain and time spent) are commonly considered undesirable, while the second-order consequences (better health and a more attractive appearance) are desirable. Similarly, food that tastes good is often bad for you and vice versa.
In order to lead a more successful live, we need to develop the right mindset along with a strong enough “Why” and choose what they really want. This is an important prerequisite to avoid the temptations and get over the pains that drive them away from what they really want.
By understanding and using the power of compound time, we can increase the odds of living a life without regret.
Invest In Compound Time Activities Now
Investing in compound time is difficult because it’s counterintuitive. We humans evolved to think short-term about food, investments and pleasure. Often we are so focussed on immediate gratification that we don’t realise the intricacies of how our decisions now could ripple 30 years into the future. Or, how we feel about something in the moment isn’t always the best predictor of how we’ll feel about it in future. What we’re focused on today may not be the thing that matters most in the [grand] scheme of things.
In my experience, the best way to make better long term decisions and make time for compound time is to plan it as non-negotiable. Don’t use logic. There is ALWAYS going to be something that feels more urgent, tastes better and is more important than exercising or eating the right food. Exercise needs to be put in your calendar and eating healthy need to become habitual.
To start on the right foot, you need to set up your environment, have your workout gear always on standby, stock up on healthy food and get rid of junk food, and envision yourself as a healthy person that practices healthy eating habits and lives a more active lifestyle.
